If you haven't been to China's premiere city, Beijing, then you're no traveler, man! Electronically being there through the
digital information platform called the internet doesn't count, you know. This city boasts of a rich historical background that I think even its best European counterpart would be rated a damn distant second! Within the walls of this China capital, a looming region of the actual city grounds that boasts of an even richer past can be seen. Yes, this is why Beijing is called the Forbidden City of China!
Well, technically speaking, the
Forbidden City was aptly named because of its rich history. Emperors, or whatever you call those people who were either stinking with power and riches, or both, literally denied the general public access to this ancient Beijing region for about 500 years or so. I wouldn't know how long, mind you, for who's counting? Definitely not me, 'cause I leave the counting to those with enough time for such a damn boring job! Anyway, this dome is the largest palace grounds in the world, and it has actually been the pleasure house of more than 24 Chinese emperors. Directly to the wayward south of Tiananmen Square, this place has actually been the topic of countless TV articles. But I, for one, would tell you that seeing this place on TV doesn't even come remotely close to actually being there and breathing the Chinese-filled air!
